Visit Porto: A Mesmerizing Coastal City in Portugal
It comes as no surprise that visiting Portugal is on the bucket-list for many. It's affordable, adventurous, and beyond beautiful. However, most people opt to visit Lisbon, which is also amazing, but there are many other destinations in Portugal that are worth a visit - more specifically, Porto! Porto is a mesmerizing coastal city that needs to be on every European itinerary!
Porto may be the country's second largest city, in Portugal, but for some reasons it falls short of being a popular destination. Porto is seen as a "working-class" town where Lisbon is seen as "trendy" or "fashionable." Quite the contrary, Porto delivers unmatched beauty, delicious wines, charming locals excited to share hidden gems, and not to mention remarkable culinary delights.
To our advantage, our trip to Porto was filled with many memorable moments! We were able to see a ton of street art and cutting-edge architecture, hear the calm of the Douro River while basking in history and taking in the natural beauty. The best part -- a trip to Porto can be as immersive or evasive as you'd like.
There are far too many reasons to poetically serve justice to this magical place. Beyond the obvious charms such as the river and the alley-woven cobblestone streets -- its the true soulfulness of the city that makes Porto special. With destinations ever changing, Porto has remained unchanged and essentially capturing Porto at its true essence.
It's a destination dedicated to be explored on foot, which makes it that much more enticing as you can uncover many layers of such a captivating city. It's a laid-back vibe with endless alluring viewpoints and top-tier hospitality. It's a city that delivers on so many fronts time and time again.
