Fourth Annual RuPaul's DragCon LA Breaks Records - Spreading Positivity, Self-Love, and Fierceness in Downtown Los Angeles
Created by RuPaul and World of Wonder Productions, the 4th Annual DragCon broke records! Over 50,000 attendees gathered at the Los Angeles Convention Center for the kiki to remember!
This years festivities had an impressive lineup of panels and celebrity attendees to match. The convention featured top talent for performances, meet and greets, panels and more, including: RuPaul, Michelle Visage, Bianca Del Rio, Trixie Mattel, Billy Eichner, Alaska 5000, Jinkx Monsoon, Alyssa Edwards, Aquaria, Asia O’Hara, Blair St. Clair, Dusty Ray Bottoms, Eureka, Kalorie Karbdashian Williams, Kameron Michaels, Mayhem Miller, Miz Cracker, Monét X Change, Bebe Zahara Benet, Raja, Sharon Needles, Violet Chachki, Sasha Velour, Chad Michaels, Ross Mathews, Yeardley Smith (“The Simpsons”), Tokyo Stylez, Hannah Hart, and World of Wonder co-founders & DragCon creators Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey. Over 350 exhibitor booths were on site offering attendees some of the most sickening shopping around.
Unreal's Jeffrey Chapman and cast-mate Constance Zimmerman were in attendance. Constance was all smiles as she brought her daughter to the event on day two! Her daughter apparently loves the show and showed off her personality by wearing a unicorn onesie. Constance matched her shinning personality wearing a silver bomber jacket with rainbow lining. Constance has proved to be a supporter of the entity as she, along with Jeffrey Chapman were judges on RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars 3 .
“In this time of chaos and lies, for three days tens of thousands of big-hearted, super-creative, and sensitive souls peacefully gathered to celebrate their truth at RuPaul’s DragCon,” says RuPaul. “Seeing all the young people and families and queens has filled my heart with gratitude and hope. The future is going to be fierce.”
Comedian Billy Eichner joined the RuPaul’s DragCon festivities and delivered a special panel dedicated to energizing young people to vote during the November 2018 midterm elections. Joined by drag superstars Alaska 5000 and Peppermint this panel couldn't have come at a more appropriate time, considering only 12% of young Americans voted in the last election.
"The overwhelming success of this year's DragCon is a testament to the talent and creative vision of the hundreds of drag artists who attended the convention," says World of Wonder co-founder Randy Barbato. "Drag has become a cultural force that is here to stay.” From political humor, body positivity, and spreading ultimate glam, realness, and fierceness this years' festival was one for the books. "DragCon is about life, love, laughter and inclusion. It’s about tearing down walls, not building them," continued World of Wonder co-founder Fenton Bailey.
