When visiting Los Angeles, staying near LAX might not be a priority for travelers – until now. Located among various hotels near LAX, the Sonesta Los Angeles Airport stands out by literally facing a different direction than its competitors along the hotel strip. This transformation includes redesigned guest rooms, a modernized lobby, 14,000 square feet of reimagined event spaces—including the cutting-edge Sonesta Work Suite—and four distinct dining venues offering a variety of curated culinary experiences.
“Our renovations redefine what it means to stay near LAX,” said Robert Routh, General Manager of Sonesta LAX. “While we have always been the preferred choice for travelers, thanks to our 24-hour complimentary airport shuttle, the new design enhances comfort, convenience, and style. With fresh, mid-century modern interiors, upgraded dining options, and our innovative Work Suite, we have created a space that seamlessly blends function and relaxation.”

Upon entering, visitors will notice a completely revamped hotel that combines business and leisure, while also recognizing the diverse landscape of Los Angeles. “Sonesta believes in connecting our properties to the local community,” shared Michael Reid, BT & Association Sales Manager of Sonesta Los Angeles Airport, in an exclusive interview with Identify LA. “We chose to feature local artists because they embody the spirit and culture of Los Angeles. The feedback from both guests and our corporate partners has been overwhelmingly positive.”
From painted pillars to artwork that captures some of the distinct neighborhoods of LA, such as the iconic downtown bridge (6th St. Viaduct), the decor serves as a warm tribute to the surrounding area.
Updated Guest Rooms Offer Comfort and Style:

Each of the hotel’s 614 guest rooms now features sleek, modern furnishings with amenities designed for productivity and relaxation. Spacious work desks with ergonomic chairs, large HD TVs, Keurig coffee makers and mini-refrigerators complement the design. Double-paned windows ensure a restful night’s sleep, while all King rooms include a pull-out sofa bed. All double-bed rooms have been upgraded to feature two queen beds—224 in total—a key differentiator from the competition.
Five exclusive suites on the upper floors range from 610 to 1,400 square feet, offering breathtaking views and upgraded amenities like Nespresso coffee machines, 65-inch TVs, and plush bathrobes. Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi is available in all rooms with accessible accommodations also available. In addition to the guests rooms, the hotel also offers banquet style rooms for massive company meetings and/or conferences. If a smaller, quaint room is needed for team meetings and/or white-board sessions there is a work suite available for rent.
A Culinary Destination with Four Renovated Restaurants:

At Sonesta Los Angeles Airport comfort goes beyond the revised guest rooms - the restaurants onsite offers an array of delicious options for every palette. “We offer some of the most diverse and unique dining options in the LAX area,” Reid shares. “From our wood-fired pizza oven and signature rotisserie to Yokoso, our intimate sushi restaurant, there truly is something for every palate.”
Sonesta LAX now boasts four updated dining options, each tailored to deliver a memorable culinary journey:
Yokoso Sushi Bar: Experience modern Japanese dining in an elegant setting. Hours: Wednesday–Sunday, 5–10 p.m.
Century Taproom & Lounge: Relish California-inspired pub fare, featuring brick oven pizzas and a curated draft selection. Hours: Daily, 4 p.m.–12 a.m.
The Landing Restaurant: Start the day with a vibrant breakfast that highlights fresh, local flavors. Hours: Daily, 6–11 a.m.
Boulevard Market Café: A versatile café offering grab-and-go options or cozy seating for a quick bite. Hours: Breakfast: 6–11 a.m.; Lunch/Dinner: 11 a.m.–12 a.m.
Room service is available 24/7, ensuring guests can enjoy their favorite dishes any time.
Our Dining Picks:
Don’t skip breakfast at The Landing! During our stay, I tried the Huevos Benedictos which was incredible. Imagine two corn sopes topped with a black bean spread, chorizo, queso fresco, poached eggs and salsa Verde. The scrumptious dish is served with breakfast potatoes. This was not only aesthetically pleasing, but very tasty.. The type of breakfast that lingers in your mind.
Century Taproom: The sleek dining space is a modern pub experience with a California twist. Expect sandwiches, pasta, pizza, and burgers here. There are 12 craft beers on tap and 15 kinds of beers in bottles available. There is something for everyone! I highly suggest the Ahi Poke Nachos.
Yokoso: Feast on sushi, sashimi, and freshly made salads in the sophisticated Yokoso Sushi Bar. The grade of sushi at this establishment is top-tier. The chef truly loves what he does - and does it quite well. I suggest pulling up a chair and selecting the chef’s choice. You’ll gain a front row seat to not only dining on delicious (and fresh) sushi but you’ll be able to chat with the lead chef himself. What a treat!

The hotel offers a boutique more intimate vibe, yet it delivers all of the amenities as a major hotel. “Whether you're a solo traveler, a family, or part of a group, there's a space where you can feel relaxed and comfortable,” Reid states.
