'Black Bear' - A Trippy Performance by Aubrey Plaza That's Just Perfect for Sundance Film Festival
It's safe to say that Aubrey Plaza has come a long way since her Parks and Recreation days! In 2017 the starlet had double feature films included in the lineup at the Sundance Film Festival: Ingrid Goes West and The Little Hours. This year she stars in Black Bear - a disorienting piece of work that may be a new feel, but undoubtedly showcases her ability to adapt to the role.
Lawrence Michael Levine (Wild Canaries), gives the background of a new dimension. Don't get me wrong, at the beginning of the film it may seem all to familiar, however there (of course) is a plot twist.
"It was probably one of the most intense experiences I’ve ever had. We were in Long Lake in the Adirondacks and the lines between reality and fiction were very blurred. We were shooting off the grid on this property that was a 25-minute drive from the main road. So there was no cell service, no backup generators," Plaza told Variety. "We had a complete blackout when we first got to the location. And waiting for me in my dressing room was a miner’s light for my head in case of emergencies and a bear bell. That was comforting."
Without giving too much away, let's just say Black Bear is a film layered with thought, fueled by surprise and trippy logic. It's a film you long to see at a film festival - it's unique.
Christopher Abbott (James White) and Sarah Gadon (Indignation) play along Plaza in this must-see film.
To celebrate the film cast mates: Aubrey Plaza, Christopher Abbott, Sarah Gadon, director Lawrence Michael Levine, Paola Lazaro, Alex Koch and more gathered at The Audible Speakeasy, for the Black Bear premiere party.
