Billie Eilish, Portugal. The Man, Chance the Rapper and More at Life is Beautiful
Life is Beautiful kicked off it's 7th year with a bang! The fest, which spans across 18-city blocks, returned to Downtown Las Vegas! The 3-day music festival prides itself on its ability to provide tailored experiences year after year!
Thousands of festival goers were in attendance and enjoyed performances from all genres of music spanned across four stages. This year brings a lot of firsts: tons of more music, more art, more culinary offerings and much more.
Chance the Rapper returned as a Life is Beautiful headliner once again! This socially aware Chicago hip-hopper hit Vegas for the first time in support of his new album “The Big Day,’ his debut physical release. Right away the performance was lit, which was a change to his previous performance at the fest.
Billie Eilish scarred a bunch of LIB festival goers with her Coachella antics (she was over 30 minutes late) however her performance at Life is Beautiful more than made up for it! This is easily the hottest booking of the weekend! Donning her oversized gear, there is no denying that Billie Eilish knows how to work up the crowd. Her energy and positivity were infectious and you could feel the bass drops for miles and miles.
"Just be happy that we are alive breathing right now, can we just be grateful and that we are in this moment right now," Eilish exclaimed.Later into the evening, the alt.pop icon also made reference to the global climate strikes happening on 20 September, as she encouraged the crowd, “when I say climate, you say strike,” before performing ‘all the good girls go to hell’.
Her brother and collaborator Finneas was also on stage throughout, providing fiery guitar solos before jumping on the keys and back again. The two also performed a heartachingly acoustic version of ‘i love you’, as a sea of illuminated phones swayed along.
Portugal.the Man cut straight to the chase and performed as many of their eclectic hits as possible. Before taking the stage the group presented on large LED screens behind the stage and proclaimed that they would not be doing a lot of talking in order to play as many singles as possible! Good call on their part because the set was nothing short of amazing!
Gryffin also brought out a surprise guest - Carly Rae Jeppsen to his set! The crowd went wild as the bass dropped. Easily a great choice to close out the for the first night of Life is Beautiful!
