A Look at The Dumpster Fire That Was 2020 - Staying Positive For What Lies Ahead
Typically New Year's Eve is a night of glitz, glamour and celebrations. It's also an evening that has WAY too much pressure on it. Who will have the best celebration? Who has the best instagrammable backdrop? Where are the best fireworks? This year will be a little different.
While many may see it as a grim evening, I see it as a wonderful evening to reflect on what matters most. If 2020 has taught us anything, it's that time is valuable. We often spend too much time losing ourselves and trying to 'fit in' by societal standards and not enough time listening to our needs internally.
To say 2020 was a hard year would be an understatement. It was an emotional rollercoaster. With a worldwide pandemic, people lost family members, jobs, and hope. We have been forced to stay cooped up in their apartments and away from family and friends for periods of time which seemed to be never-ending due to COVID-19.
As the US continues to battle COVID-19 and racial injustices, I have watched friends turn into strangers and a world become more and more bleak as its true colors are revealed. It's clear that WE all have a lot of work that needs to be done internally with humanity. But we aren't losing hope. We can't! We have so far to go.
We've had all of 2020 to reflect. While some reflected and took heed of the stay-at-home orders more than many, I can't help but be proud of all of the growth that I personally have had. From meditations to being more physically active I’ve been able to clear my mind, body, and spirit.
Here are a few things I plan to facilitate in 2021 onward!
Increase “Me Time”:
Take some time each day to sit with a journal or the notes app on your phone and write down things you're grateful for or things that you're proud of. Spend five minutes with yourself, even if you have to do it while you're in the bathroom to get some privacy, connecting with yourself and sending yourself love. Me time grounds you in the present moment and when you're present, that's when the magic happens. During 2020 ‘me time’ was essential! I learned so much about myself and I’m VERY excited to keep this process moving forward.
Come from a Place of Gratitude:
A few tips and best ways to have an incredible New Year is to start by coming from a place of extreme gratitude for where you are, for all that you have and for who you are at this moment -without wanting to change yourself, find fault or compare yourself to others,” Registered Dietician and Certified Nutritionist, Melissa Kathryn states. Find gratitude in the simplest of things - because you are blessed beyond measure.
“Be Intentional - we create what we experience. Set a clear intention for what you want to experience in the year ahead,” Kathryn explains. “Get detailed. How do you want it to feel, what do you want to experience, create, achieve and who do you want to become by 2022? “
Get Creative and Collaborate:
“2021 is the year for collaboration and co-evolution,” states Life Coach Jules Scroeder. “If you are ready to go big create win-wins with those around you and those who inspire you to create more momentum faster.”
While this NYE is different, I'll be entering with gratitude, positivity, and the fullest of hearts. I hope you all join me in being the best versions of yourself.
Turn 2020 into a positive moment and think about all oof the growth with you regardless of how massive or not. Celebrate each and every win! I believe the most powerful manifesting comes, NOT from sitting and doing endless lists, but from being happy and grateful now. 2021 is a year of comeback! Cheers!
