Tehnoloogiline Paike recently released its full length album "Technological Sun". Originally from Estonia the band is creatively pushing the barriers with the electronic music genre.
The opening song on the album, "This Means War", is similar to the opening of a Disney movie. With light chimes infused with soft flute melodies the song is a little daunting, however, takes a turn halfway through.
"Breaking It" pretty much could be the opening to any 1990 Marvel video game. Similar to the opener, Breaking It doesn't really do much for its listeners. It's not till again, halfway in the song where listeners get a glimpse of the band, and who they are creatively.
"If I Die" is probably one of the best singles on the album. It not only ties in the same retro feel but you can actually hear and feel the music. Whereas in other singles on the album the verbiage was drowned out by hard-hitting beats that just did not do justice.
Full of a variety of high pitched beats, drums, and the monotoned verbiage "Technological Sun" is not exactly on the playlist. While creative in its own right, the beats are anti-climatic and, in my opinion, lacking. There is talent in this group as they were awarded "Album of the Year" in 2012 in the electronic music category for the Estonian Music Awards, however, you would never be able to tell through the works of this album.
