Hollywood has no shortage of hidden gems when it comes to hospitality. From the unique fusion inspired dishes to the underground nightlife the 'City of Angels' seems to have it all. One thing that is missing is 'history.' The Parker Room does just that -it pays homage to some of the greats and simply delivers on all fronts.
The Parker Room is tucked away on the corner of DeLongpre and Vine, its actually in the same spot as what used to be one of the hottest jazz clubs in the country, Billy Berg's! Everyone from Charlie Parker, Billie Holiday, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis were said to have been here.
Upon entering the venue guests will immediately feel a state of tranquility. A birds view of a different era, The Parker Room, combines the jazzy past of the venue with upscale decor and an impressive Peruvian inspired menu. The venue shares a kitchen with Las Balcones and definitely doesn't serve your average 'bar food.' A few of my favorites are the Brussel Sprouts, which is tossed with shitake mushrooms, truffle cashew cream, rotoca aioli, and kale. The Billy Berg's Burger was also delicious. Filled with grass fed ground chuck, swiss, lettuce, tomato, onion, fried egg, jalapeños, and house made tarter - this burger really packed a punch. Other notables were the tacos, (the shrimp was pure perfection,) and the wings (super tender,) and topped with a house sauce similar to chimchurri.
The Parker Room serves delicious craft cocktails without the hefty price tag - more so it's cocktails for the modern day consumer. 'The Yardbird,' which is made with elijah craig whiskey, trio of muddled berries, lime, agave, ginger beer and bitters and 'Groovin' High, casa dragons blanco, cucumber, mint, and lime, were two of my favorite cocktails.
With a new age twist The Parker Room effortlessly shines light on an important lost era in Hollywood. Charlie "The Yardbird" Parker broke plenty of barriers and created a safe space where colleagues could come and bond over something undeniable - music. Today the space is quaint, but filled with so much life.
The Parker Room will be doing live jazz twice a month, with the first session being on April 4th! Pop on in and see what all the hoopla is about - you won't be disappointed!
