ICYMI: Sterling K. Brown Tastes Emmys Wines with Sterling Vineyards

Brown and Sterling Vineyards winemaker Lauren Kopit celebrated Sterling’s double Emmy nomination for his performances in This Is Us and Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

This year will be a little different than previous years, due to COVID, but that doesn’t mean you can’t put celebrate in style! However, that isn’t the only change. Over the past couple of years there has been a big push for diversity and inclusion.

"This year, we are also bearing witness to one of the greatest fights for social justice in history, and it is our duty to use this medium for change," Frank Scherma, the Television Academy's chairman and CEO, said in a video message introducing the nominees in late July. As the fight continues, we are now seeing more people of color in front of and behind the camera. This has been a HUGE factor to the fact that there isn’t appropriate representation in many aspects of the entertainment industry as well as many others. Undoubtedly there is still a lot of work that needs to be done across the board.

“What I’m excited about for this year in particular is the number of black nominees. A record number of black nominees, I believe 34% of the acting category, are African American and many of them are close personal friends of mine,” Brown mentioned. “So, I’m looking forward to seeing some friends take home some hardware because it will be much deserved!”
