Rex Orange County has made it to LA and we could not be more excited! The alt-singer has easily caused a stir in the music industry from the ground up. Pure lyrics, simple melodies have made his debut album Apricot Princess easy to keep on repeat. His recent show in LA at The Fonda made us realize just how talented he truly is.
Although he was born Alex O'Connor, its his stage name that many resonate with - OC, which was given to him by a teacher and it just stuck. Trendy music blogs have given him much earned praise and accolades so its no wonder why he is absolutly killing it on tour and has quickly become the Summer favorite.
“The moment you start thinking about what other people and other artists think, you’re going to start writing like other people,” Rex previously stated to Pitchfork. “As long as you’re being yourself, and putting out what you want to put out, it’ll be the best thing you could do.”
What argumentatively put him on the map is his single, "Loving is Easy," which also landed him his TV debut on Jimmy Fallon! The single is a crowd favorite as it offers simply yet catchy lyrics complete with unassuming melodies that artists twice his senior could not produce. The entire album as a whole is simply refreshing. And we aren't the only fans, Tyler the Creator even had Rex on his single, 'Boredom' from the album 'Flower Boy,' which just so happened to be a part of the hit HBO series Insecure!
