Recently over 500 attendees gathered for a great cause, benefiting IMHRO and One Mind! The Staglin Family celebrated advances in science and a new financial milestone at the 22nd annual Music Festival for Brain Health on September 17 in the Napa Valley.
Now in its 22nd year the team has made even more progress towards raising awareness, education, in hopes of finding a cure. This year’s efforts alone raised $5.6 million to benefit the IMHRO/ONE MIND™ Institute and ONE MIND™. The cumulative total has now surpassed $256 million dollars since 1995.
"We couldn’t be happier with the results of this year’s festival and are thrilled to have surpassed a quarter billion dollars raised,” stated Shari and Garen Staglin. “The amazing support we continue to receive helps us fund the doctors and scientists that provide important scientific discoveries - breakthroughs that unlock the mysteries of the brain and make a difference in so many lives.
Over the years IMHRO and ONE MIND™ together have become the nation’s leading private-public mental health organizations dedicated to curing brain-related diseases, including depression, schizophrenia, traumatic brain injury and bi-polar illness, focusing on issues including funding, research, advocacy, open science principles, and anti-stigma. Co-hosts Shari and Garen Staglin, along with their children Brandon and Shannon, Patrick Kennedy, Co-Chairman, and Pete Chiarelli, CEO of ONE MIND™, and the Board of Directors welcomed over 500 supporters, scientists, and friends to celebrate life and raise awareness of the causes and cures for physiological brain disorders.
The 22nd Annual festival kicked off with a scientific symposium, featuring keynote speaker Steven McCarroll, Ph.D., of the Stanley Center for Psychiatric Research at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, and of Harvard Medical School. Later in the evening the symposium highlight announced the 2016 Rising Star Awards. Winners can be found HERE
Following the symposium, a tasting of some of the world’s most acclaimed wines took place in the Staglin Family Vineyard winery caves with75 renowned wineries, along with hors d’oeuvres provided by Chef Curtis Di Fede of celebrated Miminashi in Napa.The party continued when musician, filmmaker and humanitarian, Michael Franti & Spearhead took the stage for an energetic and intimate concert among the Staglin Vineyard vines.. The post-concert VIP dinner featured the cuisine of James Beard Award winning Chef Gerard Craft of Niche in St. Louis and Nashville, expertly paired with Staglin Family wines. Generosity was evident with an impromptu fund-a-need auction that added to the day’s total.
