Tracee Ellis Ross is just one of the many celebrities using their platform for the greater good! The actress teamed up with NowThis and the OWN Your Vote campaign to bring attention to the voter suppression happening in battleground states like Florida, Wisconsin, Texas, North Carolina, and South Carolina, and to empower voters to cast their ballots and avoid being discouraged by these harmful tactics.

As Tracee explained, the number of Black Americans eligible to vote this year has reached a record 30 million, and a third are located in some of the most important battleground states that Democrats truly need in order to secure a win. The short of it is, that the Black electorate has the potential to decide the 2020 election, yet Black votes are being suppressed by way of obstacles like long lines, reduced polling locations, and illegally purging voters. "No one would try to suppress your vote if your vote didn't matter," the Black-ish actress said. "Your vote absolutely matters." If you have not yet cast your ballot, make sure to drop off your absentee ballot or head to the polls in person on Election Day - there is still time!

"We’ve had more people come out to vote this election then we had in 2016. But still we are pushing to get more to the polls. As for the lines this morning across voting locations have been long, but the wait times have decreased in comparison to those during early voting," Lauren R. Welch, Organizer and Marketing for the LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland has stated in a recent interview. "What we’re noticing on the ground, and what this tells us, is that in the future we need more than one early voting location."

Many brands are also getting involved! Jaye Hersh-Eigler of the renowned brand "Gotta Have Face" gave a lot of vote masks away to first time voters through the local high schools, to their recently graduated seniors (as some are still attending school online from home) The brand also gifted their vote masks to many influencers as possible to spread the word!

"Organizations like: Collective Pac are paying for Lyft rides, VoterDrive Cleveland are taking people to the polls, and GCRTA and Cleveland Foundation teamed up to give free bus rides. Organizations like NAACP, Collective Pac, Courtney Covers Cle, the LGBT Center and many others organized and participated in rallies with food and entertainment to get people to the polls," Welch continued. Thanks to companies worldwide that have come together to make these issues, and voter suppression a little bearable!

“For the election, I think it’s important to encourage people to use their voice regardless of their choice,” stated AJ Sarcione. “As I did interviews I stressed the importance of compassion (since) earlier this year when we were seeing a lot of social divide.”

If you're eligible to vote but haven't yet done so, do you have a plan? This is one of the most crucial presidential elections and we must show up for what we believe in - HUMANITY! Click HERE to find a poll near you!
