On May 21, 2016 Recently celebrities, community members, LAPD and representatives from the US Armed Forces gathered together for the 44th Annual Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation Celebrity Golf Tournament, Family Fun & Celebration of Armed Forces Day.
Held at Rancho Park Golf Course in Los Angeles, the event was hosted by actor Jack Wagner and special guest appearance by rock legend Gene Simmons dozens of celebrities gathered to help raise funds for the Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation.
Guests in attendance included: The Backstreet Boys Nick Carter & AJ McLean, Kendall Schmidt (Big Time Rush), Sophie Tweed-Simmons,Actors Luke Wilson, Alan Thicke, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, the cast of Major Crimes - Phillip Keene, Sheldon Souray, current WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz, and Shannon Tweed-Simmons (Gene Simmons-Family Jewels).
With plenty of photo opportunities on site, fans also had an opportunity to walk the course and see their favorite celebrities golf for a good cause and enjoy live entertainment, food vendors, LAPD specialized unit displays, Armed Forces displays, a Traffic Safety Fair, and more.
Celebrity supporters have included Elton John, Jack Nicholson, Jerry West, Wayne Gretzky, Mark Wahlberg, Sugar Ray Leonard, Donald Trump, Vin Scully, Kelsey Grammer, Eddie Van Halen, Samuel L. Jackson, Craig T. Nelson, Richard Dreyfuss, Chris O'Donnell, George Lopez, Tommy Lasorda, Oscar de la Hoya, Rihanna, Stevie Wonder, Ray Romano, Betty White, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Bob Newhart, Telly Savalas, Johnny Grant, James Gandolfini, Dennis Quaid, Paula Abdul, David Hasselhoff.
Since it’s inception in 1972, the Foundation has granted more than $16 million for medical, funeral and educational expenses without any taxpayer money. Proceeds from this event benefit family members of LAPD employees experiencing catastrophic circumstances resulting from the officer’s injury or death. What a great day full of family fun in celebration of Armed Forces Day.
