With extended office hours being the trend, it comes as no surprise as to just how The Edge Desk has been described as “the newest office trend,” or “magical.” You can maximize your space, increase your posture, while getting work done with The Edge Desk! We were lucky enough to chat with the founder, Marc Rosenberg, and hear the latest with this innovative game-changer!

Identify LA: What inspired the launch of The Edge Desk?

Marc Rosenberg: I came up with the idea while moving my daughter into her college dorm room. Kids all had two desks and two beds in cramped space like years before, but now no one uses their desk for work. They all sat on their beds with their laptops. I asked if they preferred not having a desk unless they needed it and all chose space over the traditional desk.

IDLA: What are the primary benefits?

MR: Comfort for sure. When people sit on The Edge for the first time , they see an immediate difference in how they feel. Then the ease of use, adjustability and way to get your work exactly where you need is huge. Then portability and storability.

IDLA: Did you feel that there was a niche that needed to be filled? If so, how does The Edge Desk fix the issue (s)?

MR: For sure in young professionals, people in small placed and people tired of hurting as they work and create.

IDLA: Where do you see the company in the next 5 years? What are the goals for the brand?

MR: Great question. We see what we are doing is helping people feel better as they work, create and play. We’ve already seen professionals, students and artists reaping the benefits. Next we’re after gamers and we’re just getting started.

IDLA: Career wise, what is your biggest achievement thus far?

MR: I’m probably best known for Marketing Furby and other toy brands, but to me the greatest success came at 51, launching The Edge on Kickstarter and selling 1500 desks in a month in 41 countries all bootstrapped. It’s shown huge validation for the idea.

IDLA: What's next? Are their any extensions on the horizon?

MR: Working on gaming desk next and lots more in the works!

IDLA: Any advice for other startups?

MR: Step out of your comfort zone. I was an entrepreneurial minded marketer, but always worked for companies not chasing my own dream. Now, I work with great people and do things because we love ideas and know that we have to be more progressive in how we interact with our consumers. I live and love the evolution of marketing in today’s digital era. The dialogue with consumer versus monologue is awesome.
