In 2018, the world population consists of well over 7 billion people; in the United States alone, there are about 325 Million people - all purchasing and consuming, and always affecting the environment natural resources. There is no doubt extreme waste exists in all commercial industries, much more so, textiles used in the fashion industry. The fashion industry emits greenhouse gases of about 1.2 billion tons per year.

With thousands of e-commerce designers spitting out mass-produced “chop and drop,” lousy quality remakes of high-end fashion designs on websites such as eBay, Etsy, and Amazon, aspects such as quantity, quality, culture, and environmentally sustainable processes, have been interrupted.

There are so few companies that have made headway in this new movement of the past decade to be cognizant of their impacts on the environment and the importance of community and teamwork to build a better and greener world of fashion.

KINDOM is a brand started in 2017 that relies on the Kin-ship of its community. Bringing sustainable, eco-friendly fashion that focuses on a balance between materials, resources, design, and labor; humans and the environment. By being aware and actively pursuing efforts in producing clothes that incorporate fair-trade standards, organic, recycled, reclaimed, plant-based, high-quality and long-lasting items, KINDOM is breaking the still popular standards of commercial textile waste and environmental toxicity in the world of fashion.

The mission of KINDOM is to create products with meaning and purpose to protect and benefit the environment and humanity for generations to come. KINDOM is a sustainable brand, meaning that the labor, materials, & efforts that go into creating these high-quality clothing are a from a group of individuals who care about quality and the health and community of themselves and the environment.

KINDOM prides itself on using organic, recycled and plant-based materials such as organic cotton, hemp, bamboo, Tencel and recycled polyester. Not only are the clothing items sustainable and compostable, but the packaging and bags are also as well. In a nod to 90’s fashion, the Spring 2018 collection re-imagines popular styles like baby doll tops and dresses, embellished denim, wide leg patchwork pants and casual maxi dresses all with the importance of versatility and sustainability in mind. The exclusivity and limited collections of this brand emphasize a fresh new wave of eco-friendly and high-quality fashion that is long-lasting and much needed in the fashion industry today.

Who knew the franchise brands we love and visit frequently, such as Zara, Forever 21, and H&M are all responsible for fashion pollution to our dying world. So, if you have a heart and want to be conscious about our dying future of fashion regarding who is making our clothing and the conditions they are made in, think twice. Everyone is attached to their phone! Open a search engine and learn. Here in addition to Kindom are brands that care about our consciously dying planet: Everlane; Patagonia, Eileen Fisher, PACT Apparel, Reformation, Hope made in the World, and Karen Kane. If we cannot even be conscious of the way we think about the clothes on our back, how can we think we would take care of the people who made them, or where the materials came from.
