The Pier House Venice Beach – Locally Sourced Food with a Modern Twist
Venice Beach has been an LA staple for ages! Afterall, it offers beautiful views sandy beaches and mouth-watering restaurants like The Pier House! The Pier House is a beachfront restaurant and bar where you can indeed- have it all!
The Pier House may seem familiar and for good reason as the space was home to The Venice Terrace, a local treasure that lasted over 70 years. Thanks to the same individuals who rehabbed the Venice Whaler, The Pier House was created. One thing that remains the same is offering great food and drink options at non-tourist prices.
The rejuvenating space features a chic interior with minimal touches. The white space and green shrubbery are refreshing changes the space has implemented since it’s re-opening. Located at the very end of Washington Blvd, just at the tip of the pier, The Pier House offers an array of coastal favorites.
The menu is the creation of Executive Chef Alex Schwartzman, who has been in-house for a little over 3 months, and has completely revamped the menu. The end result is highlighting locally sourced food with a modern twist. You can expect fresh seafood, an VERY impressive raw bar, and of course restaurant staples such as a breakfast sandwich and burger and fries.
"We wanted to be a local spot in a touristy area," states Mitch Pearce, Restaurant Manager. " We do the little things. Our raw bar is one of the freshest in LA, we try to do our own takes on classic and traditional dishes!"
The breakfast options are far from ordinary! Think omelets but filled with your choice of seafood such as lobster, crab, or shrimp. The Seafood Crepe is light and delicate and is also filled with your choice of seafood, but drawn in a cream sauce, fine herbes, and pickled shallots. My pick - the lobster omelette with a side of cream sauce! The omelette is fluffy and seasoned to perfection and LOADED with lobster! The Crab Bagel is a game-changer. Layers of complex flavors sit atop this onion bagel that’s also made in-house. It’s smooth and creamy with a slight kick from the Peruvian salsa and topped with blue crab! How could you not?!
The raw bar is a must try! The Peruvian Scallops are a dream! They come with a nice garlic and habanero confit, mango, coconut, and cilantro. It’s a sweet heat type of treat - and I’m here for it! The establishment also brings in fresh oysters which is part of a rotating menu. The Poached Shrimp is unique as it’s a delicate meat that brings in more flavor. There are clams, lobsters, and crab included on the raw bar as well. Simply put, anyone that is interested in seafood, visit here as the team always takes it further.
Breakfast is served from 8am-12pm Monday- Friday and until 1PM on Saturday and Sunday. Lunch is served 11am-5pm everyday with dinner served after. At The Pier House, come for the views, but stay for the fresh seafood! This is sure to be one of your top restaurants on the west side!
