Mama Shelter Rooftop Review - Spend the Day With Mama

Mama Shelter Rooftop Review - Spend the Day With Mama

Los Angeles has no shortage of rooftops! With the summer temperatures FINALLY creeping up, there is one rooftop in the heart of it all -- Mama Shelter!  The rooftop at Mama Shelter boasts amazing views of the city of angels with a fun bright color decor the match the high energy!

Situated atop the six-story historic hotel and features 360-degree, panoramic views from the Hollywood sign, to the downtown LA sky-scrapers, and on a clear day -- the Pacific.

Besides the unbeatable views the patio is 1970s glam! Lights and cute potted palms are what makes the rooftop is just swanky enough to make you feel like you're on vacation or at least someone's upscale garden party. There is even a few game tables to amp up the excitement just an ounce.

While the rooftop menu may be lacking, there is still plenty to love about it! The rooftop menu consists of a variety of tacos and appetizers along with their extensive cocktail menu. Cocktails that are named after classic films (it's only fitting,) an in-house "mule" bar, as well as wines from California! Of course there are a few beers on the menu as well.

I opted for the Pork Belly Tacos as my main dish and the Spicy Black Bean Dip as my appetizer! The tacos were tasty and even sold out shortly after I ordered them. The Pork Belly was cooked to perfection (I must admit, I was surprised,) and was topped with kimchi. I have to congratulate the chef for taking chances and bringing some new-inspo to the menu! Each order of tacos comes with a corn and rice. If it were up to me, I’d choose double corn because it was DELICIOUS! I’d even order it as a side if it were an option! It’s a simple take on corn elote, which is always a WIN!

The Black Bean Dip was everything you could ask for. Smashed black beans with chorizo, topped with melted cheese and green onions - need I say more? Trust me and ask for MULTIPLE orders of this one!

Grab your besties and chill on the rooftop! If you're lucky enough you will snag one of the daybeds which deliver spacious comfort and watch the night unfold in front of your very eyes while sipping one of their MANY cocktails!

Although LA has MANY rooftops to offer, there is nothing quite like Mama Shelter! It feels like home right in the middle of the city! Spend the day with Mama - you won't regret it! Click HERE to see our other favorite restaurants.
