From the Islands to Hollywood - Taste of the Caribbean Opens in Hollywood
Finally a place that has home cooking with an island twist to it! Taste of the Caribbean LA (TOTCLA) has opened in Hollywood, California and has everything you can imagine!
Created by Chef Bernard James TOTCLA is located off of Hollywood and Cahuenga (1642 N. Cahuenga) and uses local organic products to deliver an incomparable dining experience for eyes and your palette!
Cooking since 1998 Chef Bernard James, originally from Grenada, infuses a taste of each island within the menu of TOTCLA. "I came to Los Angeles in 2008 and (noticed) there wasn't a caribbean restaurant in the area-there is a call for caribbean food in LA," states Chef Bernard James. "With my food I take a little from each island with a small twist to give it flare, thats why I stick with the caribbean spices, nothing else!"
TOTCLA is more than affordable! Guests are paying low market prices and receiving a fresh gourmet authentic meal all the while supporting local businesses. The presentation is also remarkable. Knowing the importance of presentation they have made the presentation of each and every order a priority. "People eat with their eyes", expressed Chef Bernard James. "Here everything is prepared in a gourmet style."
What started off as a popular food truck, TOTCLA has expanded due to its high demand. Locals and stars alike have become instant fans! Hip-hop artist Akon, has even expressed his love by saying it was "the best jerk chicken (he's) ever had."
Open till 4am guests can expect a vast menu with many options. From jerk chicken, fried shark, thyme infused chicken and waffles to plantains, curry chicken tacos, ox tail baked and finished in a red wine, and more - TOTCLA has it all!
