‘Wendy Williams: The Movie’ : The Highly Anticipated Biopic Reveals it ALL

Wendy Williams is of course no stranger to the camera. America’s favorite daytime talk show host, Wendy Williams, will have her very own biopic.  Throughout the trajectory of her career we have watched her rise and fall (literally) from her talk show to her personal life including her relationship and drug use. Williams has decided to bare it all! ‘Wendy Williams: The Movie’ will debut Lifetime on January 30th at 8pm/7c.

As one of the executive producers, Williams’ has decided to not ‘gloss-over’ anything. Wendy has made herself the go-to source for great celebrity dish on her hit talk show, The Wendy Williams Show, but recently the spotlight has turned towards her. The authorized project provides a revealing look at Wendy’s journey, from her scrappy upstart days in urban radio to the success of her own syndicated talk show. Despite all the naysayers and obstacles Wendy encountered throughout her life, her strength and determination have allowed her to thrive.

In terms of approval on how this biopic accurately portrays Williams, she herself gives a seal of approval! “I laughed, I cried, I was captivated. And kind of stunned—I can’t believe I survived. I can’t believe I did that, survived what I went through,” Williams says in an interview with Forbes. “You don’t have to share everything, but I wish people shared more of their need to show vulnerability.”

In a recent press conference Ciera Payton, who plays Wendy Williams, shined light on the difficulty of making this come to light. “With Wendy Williams you don’t imagine that she went through any of that stuff. It’s just so layered,” Payton shared. “From the miscarriages to the relationship and the drug use. None of it was easy to film at all. It was chilling for me”

Ciera Payton takes on the lead role while Morocco Omari stars as Wendy’s ex-husband Kevin Hunter. Produced by Front Street for Lifetime and executive produced by Wendy Williams, Will Packer and Sheila Ducksworth. Darren Grant directs from a script written by Leigh Davenport and Scarlett Lacey.

“Wendy Williams: The Movie” premieres on Saturday, January 30 at 8 pm/7c, immediately followed by the “Wendy Williams: What a Mess!” Documentary at 10 pm/9c.

We can’t wait to watch! Will you be tuning in?!
