Screen Actors Guild Awards After Party - Audi, The Weinstein Company & Netflix Shut Down the Sunset Tower Hotel
This past Sunday the 23rd Screen Actors Guild took place in Los Angeles, California. Celebrating the best achievements in film and television performances for the past year, the SAG Awards pays homage to our favorite actors and sheds light on 'the ones to watch.'
There were many incredible actors with powerful storylines in film over the past year, you can just imagine the powerful speeches that ensued. Taraji P. Henson of the film, "Hidden Figures," had a speech filled with unity and hope about both the film and today. “This film is about unity. The shoulders of the women that we stand on are three American heroes: Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson. Without them, we would not know how to reach the stars,” exclaimed Henson. "“This story is about what happens when we put our differences aside, and we come together as a human race,” she concluded. “We win. Love wins every time ... They are hidden figures no more!” Talk about making a statement!
After the SAG Awards many guests headed out to the Sunset Tower Hotel for The Weinstein Company & Netflix's 2017 After Party. Presented by Audi along with The Weinstein Company and Netflix the star-studded event included recent winners, Claire Foy (The Crown), the cast members of Stanger Things, Orange Is The New Black and Lily Tomlin, who was honored with the SAG Life Achievement Award. Other party attendees included the cast of Game of Thrones, John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, Bryan Cranston, Hugh Grant, and Sarah Paulson. Winners and notable executives chauffeured in Audi vehicles included Joe Keery (Stranger Things), Matt Smith (The Crown), and Taylor Schilling (Orange Is The New Black) and Harvey Weinstein.
Attendees were all smiles! Apparently if you want to have a good party, invite the cast of Stranger Things as they were the center of the dance party! Joining them was Christy Teigen and John Legend, the talented duo enjoyed a cute date night, sans their adorable daughter, Luna, and opted to dance the night away. Amy Adams, Lily Tomlin, Samira Wiley, were amongst many other celebs in attendance.
The evening ended in a high note despite the rough times we are in. It's a great way to celebrate something that unites us all, film and television. Cheers to the nominees and congrats to the winners.
