Lily Tomlin, Maria Menounos, Margaret Cho, Frankie Grande and More Attend Voice For The Animals 3rd Annual "Wait Wait... Don't Kill Me!" Comedy Gala
The 3rd Annual Voice for the Animals “Wait, Wait...Don’t Kill Me!” comedy gala was held at the Broad Stage theater in Santa Monica last weekend. The event featured a silent auction, live auction, plus a comedic game show with host Kevin Nealon.
Maria Menounos, Heidi Jo Markel and LUSH Cosmetics were honored with Lily Awards (after Lily Tomlin’s namesake). Actor/Comedian Kevin Nealon, best known for Saturday Night Live, Weeds, and currently starring on CBS’s Man With A Plan, served as the evening’s host. Lily Tomlin served as Scorekeeper and Margaret Cho, Pete Holmes, Leslie Jordan and Allee Willis competed with one another answering animal themed questions and participated in an unforgettable night of stand-up comedy.
Margaret Cho won the competition. Guests experienced a live auction where Lily Tomlin auctioned a phone voice recording and threw in her blue Carolina Herrera dress worn to the Emmy’s! Maria Menounos jumped up impromptu to show everyone the dress on her phone and encouraged guests to give to help save the animals!
Earlier in the evening she spoke on her love for animals. "I've been an animal lover my whole life. I feel like they're the only ones who have ever gotten me. I remember vivid conversations with animals because I didn't speak English growing up. It's definitely a special connection," Menounos told THR. There were tons of donations from celebs throughout the evening and even music icon Cher got in on the action by donating 2 backstage Meet & Greets at an upcoming show in Las Vegas.
Guests drank Dulce Vida Tequila, Jägermeister, Peroni and White Tiger Vodka cocktails. Guests also received a LUSH Cosmetics Butterfly giftset. It was quite the evening for a great cause! For more information, please visit:
