Barbra Streisand Reminds The World She Is Still Our Favorite Funny Girl at The PaleyFest

Paleyfest has officially kicked off its two-week festivities with an enchanting talk with our favorite 'Funny Girl," Barbra Streisand. Moderated by veteran TV producer Ryan Murphy, Streisand talked about the highs and loves of her career as she received The Legendary Icon Award.

“I have only lived in a world where Barbra Streisand is the biggest star in the universe,” said Murphy, who confessed in his opening remarks that he’s been mesmerized by her since the first movie he had ever seen, which happened to be “Funny Girl.”

How can you not be obsessed with Streisand? She is a true icon: relatable, hilarious, charismatic, and beyond talented. Over the years Streisand has held prestigious roles that were groundbreaking for television. One of her first, most memorable roles, was when she appeared onThe Judy Garland Show and did a duet with Garland on "Get Happy" and "Happy Days Are Here Again." (Check the clip below to relive the moment.) Streisand also shared her thoughts on Garland, “I adored her. I loved her. She was so wonderful to me."

 

From highlight to highlight it was only a matter of time when Streisand was asked to chime in on the #MeToo movement. “We’re in a strange time now in terms of men and women and the pendulum swinging this way and that way but it’s going to have to come to the center.”

The event concluded on a high note as all attendees shared their love and memories of her hits, including her Netflix special, "Barbra: The Music ...The Mem'ries ...The Magic!"
