A Sense of Home Gala 2023 Honored Charlotte & Gary Gilbert and Jeneva Bell in Los Angeles
Recently celebs gathered in Los Angeles for a good cause. A Sense of Home held its gala Saturday evening to bring awareness to the increasing homeless epidemic. The organization has been on a mission to prevent homelessness by creating first ever homes and a community for youth aging out of foster care.
The night was filled with a multitude of rousing speeches and brilliant performances as inspired humans were celebrated in a chic, cozy, and magical ambiance thanks to the gorgeous designer lounge and passed delectables and drinks. Guests enjoyed a performance by double-platinum recording artist, Grammy nominee, Aloe Blacc, and a silent art and experience auction, while listening to a live set by DJ Michelle Pesce. A Sense of Home honored Charlotte and Gary Gilbert (part Cavaliers owner and La La Land Producer) and founder of Ruggable, Jeneva Bell, who also created the ASOH Scholarship fund, which helps ASOH create 150 homes for foster youth each year.

More than 350 guests gathered at a private residence to support A Sense of Home.
The homeless crisis can only end through prevention.- A Sense of Home's mission is to prevent homelessness by creating first-ever homes and a community for youth aging out of the foster care system. Fifty percent (50%) of those struggling with homelessness were once in foster care. Twenty-three thousand (23,000) youth, age out of the foster care system in America each year; fifteen hundred (1,500) of those youth are in Los Angeles. Aged-out foster youth are left without the most basic of human rights…a home. When an applicant does not have a home A Sense of Home (ASOH), helps them secure housing vouchers through county programs, ASOH offers alumni ongoing resources, such as: educational scholarships, therapy, trauma-informed healing, financial literacy training, mentorship, job placement referrals, job training, and pay-it-forward programs.
All disciplines of science from neuroscience, sociology, public health, anthropology, and psychology agree that a fully functioning shelter is the first and most essential building block to living a healthy and productive life.
