Recently individuals gathered at LA's Glassell Park for a fun family event with non-other than Strawberry Shortcake and friends to celebrate 35 years of Strawberry Shortcake goodness and an all-new season of Strawberry Shortcake's Berry Bitty Adventures (June 20th premiere, with the second episode airing June 27th), Discovery Family Channel brought Strawberry Shortcake and Cherry Jam (live and in costume) to the families of LA’s Glassell Park for an event which not only demonstrated embracing the show’s core values of friendship, caring and sharing, but also served beneficial and fun for all.
Members of the community were invited to roll up their sleeves with two of their favorite TV characters during a hands-on strawberry planting extravaganza that took place in the Glassell Park Community Garden, the site of a former drug house in an area notoriously ravaged by crime. Since its opening five years ago, the garden has helped transform life for many of the families in Glassell Park.
LA City Council Member Mitch O’Farrell, Police Captain Jeffrey Bert and child star Kaya Rose Davis also attended the festivities, which began with strawberry planting, followed by photo opportunities, special mini-strawberry shortcake treats donated by 9021oh! Cupcakes, and prizes for several lucky winners.
Be sure to tune in to the second episode airing June 27th on Discovery Family Channel!
