Celebrity Talk - Up Close with almost monday
Music lovers united at the Tempe Beach Park in Arizona for another wow-worthy Innings Festival. The two-day fest brought 20 bands to center stage merged with baseball, local restaurants, along the idyllic Arizona mountains. Although this year brought a few heavy hitters such as Foo Fighters, Tame Impala, St. Vincent, Black Pumas, there were a few bands that equally stole the spotlight. almost monday was the perfect addition and to be honest, I can't think of a more perfect band to open a festival.
almost monday, a San Diego trio composed of Dawson Daugherty [vocals], Luke Fabry [bass], and Cole Clisby [guitar], are the epitome of a new age feel-good jam band. The band perfectly bottles California sunshine in their funky basslines, ecstatic choruses, and danceable grooves, which is beyond contagious. The band emerged in 2020 with an unprecedented 30 million overall streams, uplifting audiences everywhere in the process. Sharpening their sound and basking in this vibe, the group glow up and surprise once again on their sophomore EP til the end of time. With the pop-rock garage band, almost monday, transported California to Arizona for about 50 minutes.
Luckily Identify LA got the chance to speak with the band for a few moments on their thoughts on this years Innings Festival!
The following has been edited for continuity purposes.
Identify LA: What were your thoughts on Innings Festival?
almost monday: It was super fun! We were stoked because we had just played in SLC the night before so the warmth and clear skies were very nice. Also it's super cool that the festival has a baseball element intertwined with it.
IDLA: What was your favorite part of performing at Innings Festival and how does the festival differ from others?
am: Seeing and meeting fans is always the best. But not gonna lie the catering was pretty bomb. The spring training / baseball element definitely sets it apart from others. [It was a] very unique way to bring together sports fans and music lovers.
The pop-trio give pure high-energy nostalgia. If you ever get to see almost monday live - do it (which is great because they’re currently touring)! Stay connected on socials: instagram, twitter, facebook, bands in town, and youtube.
