Let's Get to The "CORE" of Fitness With Joshua Lipsey

While staying at home or sheltering in place isn't easy, staying healthy and fit can still be achieved. We caught up with Joshua Lipsey, the founder of CORE who has helped several women lose over 100 pounds post-pregnancy! That's an achievement for anyone, but how can we prepare for summer and coming out of Covid lock down?  Lipsey has the answer...and it's all about the CORE!

CORE's methodology is based off of the understanding that your core is the origin of movement therefore it should be strong and stable. There are phases that focus on the chain reaction of your body through upper or lower body movements and CORE has achieved a lot of success because the constant change in phases keeps your body guessing and recruits a ton of muscles resulting in major calorie loss

Lipsey states "Our CORE workouts differ because we feel it is the most authentic and challenging way to work your body and no one workout is the same."

With the increased demand for at-home online workouts, CORE now has a schedule of daily virtual workouts. The online workouts range between 30 – 60 minutes in duration and most focus on a full-body “Core Fix” workout via Zoom.

There's no equipment needed for an online sweat-session, although they offer a ton of equipment which is available on their Core-fix.com website. Eventually, Lipsey is planning to offer high-tech treadmills with dynamic mode for indoor fitness aficionados! But for now, the videos are updated daily, and clients can expect tons of variety with three different trainers Jordan, Anya and Joshua himself. The workouts range from $6.99 for a 30-minute “Quick fix” and $11.99 for the 60-minute sessions.

We caught up with Joshua who also shared a 15-minute signature AB workout with Identify LA...so prepare to get sweaty and toned in just 15!

IdentifyLA: How has quarantining been for you?

Joshua Lipsey: Quarantining has been an eye opener for me having to transition into a virtual setting. I have taken a lot of positives away from this experience in terms of the ability to work my clients out remotely and feel like it’s added a new element to my repertoire.

IDLA: Surely you’ve been staying fit. Tell us about having to make the transition to online workouts?

JL:  I have definitely made it my mission to keep myself in shape and I think filming CORE- FIX classes has helped me get back to working my core and lower body in ways I wasn’t prior to the pandemic.

IDLA: Give us the run through of a Core workout - what can we expect?

JL: A CORE workout can consist of a lunge series, squat series and upper body work. All of our classes have some type of chain reaction that goes through your core.

IDLA: Where do you see the fitness industry and training/ group classes going once things start opening up again?

JL:  I think you will see a decrease in capacity once gyms start reopening and gyms will have space restrictions in place. Workouts that may have had a lot of touch points or cross contamination might have to adjust to new guidelines.

IDLA: Would you share with our readers a short beginners workout they can do from home?

JL:  A great beginners workout would be picking one lower body exercise such as a front, reverse, or side lunge. Picking one type of squat: hip squat, split squat . One core exercise such as a side plank raise or front plank with a hip drop and then one compound upper body exercise that works your trunk.

I’ll also share a signature 15-minute abs workout with you. This is great to build core strength and only takes 15 minutes out of your day!

IDLA: Lastly, where can our readers find you - socials, Website etc!

JL: You can find us at @bewithcore on Instagram, @thetranscoremer on Tik Tok and https://www.core-fix.com  for short workouts and equipment.
