Abbott Kinney is known for its chic shopping, trendy instagrammable moments, and it's undeniable art scene. There's a new spot coming to the hub, La Tostaderia. With your palette being the canvas, La Tostaderia paints the perfect picture of fusing herbs and spices with fresh seafood - magnificent.
Located at 1121 Abbot Kinney Blvd., LA Tostaderia recently opened the doors of his second location. With his first location being in the center of it all, Grand Central Market. As for the restaurant itself, it's an interesting take on seafood and is the brain child of Chef Fernando Villagomez who says, he understands this market and picking Abbott Kinney was a 'no-brainer,' due to its trendiness.
Guests will enjoy the fresh bites and of course the view of Abbott Kinney. Don't let the simplicity of the decor stray you. The combinations on the menu is anything but average. The menu boasts fresh ceviches, a handful of select tacos, as well as a pretty interesting shrimp burger.
"I'm a Chef, I try to use my grandmother's recipe and turn it into my own interpretation. My goal is to show guests that Mexicans can do more than street tacos and for them to understand the flavor."
If your adventurous go for the "Gringos," taco. It's grilled octopus and grilled shrimp topped with chipotle aioli, fresnos, green onions, and radishes.
A few favorites were the fish taco! "Our fish taco is different, exclaims Villagomez. "The difference is the sour cream, we add fine herbs that will change all of the flavors. We blend sour cream with parsley, chives, and it just pops - it gives you a better flavor. It's all about flavors and garnish."
The magnanimous complexity of the menu, which can be looked at as simple, is noteworthy and the location-prime. La Tostaderia is one that should definitely be added to your list. If Guy Fieri of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives dropped by - I would think you should too!
