Celebrate National Pinot Noir Day with Our Top Picks

Red wine is easily a traditional pick when it comes to pairing wine with a candlelit dinner. From full-bodied wines such as Malbec and Cabernet to a spicy alternative a la Chianti or Tempranillo, the deliciousness is endless. What is that perfect light red wine that falls in the middle of the spectrum? That’s where Pino Noir comes in! In honor of National Pinot Noir day we’ve rounded up a bit of our favorites of the ever so classic, yet versatile, Pinot Noir!

Böen Pinot Noir (SRP: $24.99):

Böen Pinot Noir draws its profile from the varied coastal winegrowing areas that are among California’s most sought-after cool-climate appellations. Find aromas of ripe Bing cherry, cocoa and marionberry with a rich and balanced palate with bright acidity that leads into a long, smooth finish. Böen Wines is partnering with No Kid Hungry, a national campaign working to end childhood hunger in America. Through the “Enjoy a Bottle, Help Give Meals” initiative, Böen and No Kid Hungry will provide meals to kids in need from May 28, 2021 to May 31, 2022. The partnership kicked off this summer, a crucial time for kids who aren’t able to receive daily school lunches while on summer vacation.

Belle Glos Clark & Telephone Pinot Noir (SRP: $55.00):

Belle Glos is easily identifiable by its sexy signature red wax-dipped bottle and elegant script label, making it the perfect wine for date night. Fifth-generation Napa Valley winemaker, Joseph Wagner learned his way around a vineyard long before he was able to drink wine. Inspired by his grandmother, Lorna Belle Glos Wagner, Joseph created Belle Glos with a focus on vineyard-designated Pinot Noirs from California’s best coastal regions. Each Vineyard Designate is crafted to distill the purest essence of the locale into elegant expressions of California Pinot Noir. The Belle Glos Clark & Telephone Pinot Noir is deep ruby red in color with scarlet highlights, and opens with bountiful aromas of red fruits, laced with clove, cedar, and holiday baking spices. Bold and complex flavors of crushed ripe cherry, cranberry and blueberry pie linger on the palate through the warm and structured finish.

Casillero del Diablo Pinot Noir (SRP $11.99):

This elegant wine showcases lovely fruit aromas and flavors of fresh strawberries and raspberries with soft hints of rose petals. The flavors are complimented by delicate notes of cedar and tobacco from barrel aging, balanced with fresh acidity and tannins. Soft and brilliant ruby red in the class, this Pinot Noir culminates in a fruit focused finish and is the perfect under $15 bottle to sip and share. Named the #2 most powerful wine brand in the world four years in a row, and Wine Enthusiast’s 2020 New World Winery of the Year, Casillero del Diablo is at the forefront of the world’s attention with this South American gem, sparking a uniquely Chilean sense of adventure in every glass.

Elouan Wines Pinot Noir (SRP: $21.99):

Elouan means “good light,” a nod to the longer days and abundant sunshine in Oregon. Drawn by the vision of a vibrant, full bodied style of Pinot Noir, California winemaker Joseph Wagner went to the foothills of Oregon’s coastal range where he could achieve this distinctive style. Enjoy this rich, robust and well-balanced Pinot Noir that appears dark ruby red in the glass and boasts aromas of dark cherry, persimmon, dark chocolate, and sweet pipe tobacco. On the palate, find flavors of Bing cherry, cocoa, candied cranberry, and boysenberry. Superb depth and concentration compliment the rich tannins and lead into a smooth, medium finish.
